Greetings!
Thank you for considering Beyond Desserts Catering for your special event. I’m Chef Jessica, and I’d love to share a bit about my journey and my passion for food. For me, food isn’t just about nourishment – it’s an essential part of any celebration. Without food, you’re not
really having an event, just a meeting! My love affair with food started at a young age and has grown into a lifelong passion. I’ve been cooking for as long as I can remember, and I was fortunate to grow up
in a environment where the women around me took immense pride in their meals. Everything was made from scratch, and the philosophy was simple: cook to taste, not from a recipe. Cooking began as a chore in my single-parent home, but over time, it became a key part of who I am. I’m a city girl with country values, and those influences blend together to create dishes that are unique, bold, and
full of character. I enjoy mixing flavors from different cultures and cuisines, crafting meals that take you on a
culinary journey with every bite.
What started as a hobby soon turned into a passion. My part-time job at Opryland Hotel during college introduced me to the world of professional cooking and opened my eyes to global flavors. I spent my breaks talking to chefs, soaking up tips and tricks. Instead of doing homework, I would go home and experiment with dishes I’d seen served at events. That’s when I realized this hobby was becoming something much bigger – it was time to take it seriously. I switched my major to Culinary Arts and earned my Associate of Science in Applied Culinary Arts from Nashville State Community College.
While my heart belongs to the kitchen, life has a way of guiding us in unexpected directions. After completing culinary school, I expanded my career into the broader hospitality industry. Over the past 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of holding various roles, including Banquet Captain, Bar Manager, and Banquet Manager. This diverse experience has helped me refine my skills and gain the expertise needed to create not only exceptional food but also seamless service, ensuring a flawless event from start to finish. There’s nothing more rewarding for me than seeing people’s reactions to my dishes. The joy I get from knowing I’ve contributed to making someone’s event memorable is truly priceless. My goal is always to exceed expectations, with dishes that are as beautiful as they are delicious. After all, we eat with our eyes first, right?
